What Did You Want To Be?

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Do you know the top answers kids give when asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

I wasn’t surprised when “teaching” came up number four on the list (only trailing behind dancer, actor, and musician.) When I was a little girl, I remember my dream job was to be a teacher. I would hold “class” in my bedroom, and all my stuffed animals were my students (getting them to participate in class discussions was always a nightmare.) Even at a young age, I was passionate about providing knowledge to others and sharing facts and information. I like to think my passion and dedication to teaching when I was a child lives on today in my work as a Realtor®.

That passion had a significant influence on the professional roles I would take later on in life. My past professions with Disney World and as a business consultant were opportunities to share and provide knowledge to others to help them perform at their best. Even now, as a Realtor®, I get to live my educational dream by teaching my customers about the buying and selling process. I feel incredibly privileged to be their trusted advisor and help them navigate through the real estate process successfully. But regardless of what goals I pursue throughout my life, I will always strive to provide knowledge and be a provider of education.

What did you want to be when you were a kid? Is it something you’ve incorporated into your profession now? I’d love to hear from you!
